Karin Gillies, experienced paediatric audiologist from Australian Hearing, presented 'What’s new in hearing aid technology' at the Victorian Deaf Education Institute on Thursday 13 February 2014.
Karin Gillies has worked with deaf and hard of hearing children and their families from the time of diagnosis until they turn 26 years old. She has wide experience of hearing aid fitting and habilitation for children with a mild through to a profound hearing loss. Karin is also a Clinical Leader – Paediatric responsible for implementation of program initiatives and paediatric clinical quality for Victoria and Tasmania.
This presentation provided information on the new hearing aid range for paediatric clients at Australian Hearing. Participants were able to learn more about the features available in the new hearing aids and the policy for fitting these new devices to child and young adult clients. Accessing additional programs, using on-board controls and accessories was also discussed and how these can be used to best meet individual listening goals, both within the classroom and in other everyday situations.
