JennyG.pngThe Transition into Primary School Project (TIPs project) aims to provide support to deaf and hard of hearing children and their families in making an effective transition into primary schools.

Jenny Galloway (from Aurora School) and Jean Moores-Chadwick (from Taralye Oral Language Centre) have conducted a wide range of stakeholder consultations with early intervention settings, school settings and professional services who work with families caring for a child with a hearing loss.
Jenny and Jean have been gathering information about various programs around the state and are collating the information to develop the project.  We are very excited about some of the ideas emerging from these consultations.

A steering committee will inform and involve the sector in the way this project unfolds.  Both have also been involved in resource development and the formation of a database to support and monitor families in their early years of school.

The project has been presented to members of the Victorian Deaf Education Network (VDEN) and will be shown at the Deaf Expo on 27 October 2012.
The TIPs project has been made possible under the More Support for Students with Disabilities National Partnership, Strengthening Pathways Deaf Education initiative.
