While the Transition into Primary School (TIPs) project has now come to an end, there are so many resources that you and your students can take advantage of!
Please visit the VDEI website for the current Transition to Primary School information resources for families and Teachers of the Deaf. These are also available in five other languages, Arabic, Dari, Simplified Chinese, Turkish and Vietnamese.
Please check the website for the soon to be published ‘Blue Bear Goes to School’ App, which can be downloaded onto various electronic devices.
Other resources also include a story book – Blue Bear Gets Ready for School – the book is only available as hard copy, however there is an Auslan version of the story here.
A Professional Development CD to be presented by a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) to the receiving school – available as a hard copy which comes in the teacher’s version of the transition to primary school kit.
The Transition to Secondary School Project has also come to an end. A resource for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and who are in grade six has been completed. This depicts a short film recording students past experiences of transitioning to secondary school. In addition to the short film there are also links to online support for families and students. These can soon be accessed via the VDEI website under secondary resources.
The next VDEI Family Information day will be held on the 28 February 2014View more information here
