The Victorian Deaf Education Institute (VDEI) is pleased to welcome Associate Professor Elizabeth Fitzpatrick for a special twilight event. Elizabeth is working with VDEI as part of an online literacy project, which is currently in development and due for completion late in 2016.
The twilight presentation will be held in the VDEI Learning Centre on Tuesday 22 March. The topic is Children with Hearing Loss: Early Detection and Intervention.
Elizabeth is an Associate Professor in Audiology and Speech-language Pathology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, Canada. She is also a Senior Scientist at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. She has worked in clinical and administrative positions as a listening and spoken language specialist and audiologist. Her clinical research interests are in newborn screening outcomes, interventions, and knowledge synthesis as well as outcomes in adults with cochlear implants. Elizabeth is currently an Associate Editor with the Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education.
Elizabeth's recent research has focused on the clinical characteristics and trajectory of childhood hearing loss, outcomes for early-identified mild and unilateral hearing loss and systematic reviews on spoken language development. Some further reading is provided below.
