The Victorian Deaf Education Institute (VDEI) is pleased to welcome Dr Stacey Tucci for a special twilight event. Stacey is working with VDEI as part of an online literacy project, which is currently in development and due for completion late in 2016.

The twilight presentation will be held in the VDEI Learning Centre on Tuesday 24 May. The topic is Literacy Strategies for Teachers of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students: Visual Phonics/Cued Articulation, Speechreading and Fingerspelling

Stacey is currently the director of Georgia Pathway to Language and Literacy, a state-wide coalition working with private and public agencies to ensure all children in Georgia who are deaf and hard of hearing are on a path to reading proficiency by 3rd grade. Her experience in Deaf Education has seen her use many modalities, including Spoken English, American Sign Language (ASL), and sign-supported English (CASE or Conceptually Accurate Sign(ed) English). Stacey’s research and curriculum development has focused on early literacy instruction and abstract thought development for children who are deaf.

We hope you can join us for this once off special event.
