newvicprograms.pngEducation Minister Martin Dixon recently announced that all Victorian Government schools will receive a share in $37.2 million of additional funding under the More Support for Students with Disabilities program.

Under a National Partnership between the State Government and the Commonwealth, all Government schools and students with disabilities will benefit from a one-off grant from June 2012.

In relation to deaf education, there are a number of significant initiatives that VDEI will be implementing over the next 18 months. These include:

  • A real–time classroom captioning program.
  • A transition to school program.
  • An online learning program for mainstream teachers working with children who have hearing loss.
  • Teacher of the deaf scholarships.

Below is a link established to provide further information for all schools and their communities about the More Support for Students with Disabilities National Partnership initiatives and a direct link to the National Partnership Agreement.
