The Victorian Deaf Education Institute (VDEI) is pleased to welcome Professor David Ertmer for a special free twilight event. David is working with VDEI as part of an online literacy project, which is currently in development and due for completion late in 2016.
The twilight presentation will be held in the VDEI Learning Centre on Tuesday 23rd February. The topic is Indicators of auditory-guided speech development in childen who are deaf or hard of hearing.
David is a Professor in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He has experience working as a school speech pathologist, a clinical supervisor and teaching in the areas of aural rehabilitation and clinical methods in communication disorders and an editor or associate editor of a wide range of journals. He has authored approximately 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and he is the author or co-author of two books. Some further reading is provided below.
David’s recent research has examined prelinguistic vocal development, phonological development, and the attainment of intelligible speech in young children who receive cochlear implants and children who are typically developing.
