Karen is a practising Auslan/English interpreter, with over 20 years experience in the field across a range of settings. She works full time as a teacher at Shenton College Deaf Education Centre and she is a PhD (Linguistics) candidate at Macquarie University. Karen has had a long association with ASLIA at both state and national level and currently chairs the national ASLIA Interpreter Trainers’ Network. Karen is also a NAATI examiner, and a lecturer in the Diploma of Interpreting program at the Central Institute of Technology in WA. Karen has published work regarding her research interests in interpreter aptitude; identifying skills gaps; educational interpreting; and personality as a predictor of job performance.
