One of the strategic aims of the Victorian Deaf Education Institute (VDEI) is to strengthen access, inclusion, and engagement for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and education professionals to learning programs and curriculum, through the use of cutting edge technologies.

VDEI is a technology hub, allowing workshops and seminars to be beamed to teachers and students in remote and regional areas across Victoria, via high density information technology. This ensures that students who are deaf or hard of hearing receive the best educational opportunities, regardless of location.

VDEI incorporates lecture room space, state of the art interactive multi-media, and video conferencing facilities. This technology facilitates the engagement of national and international speakers for professional learning seminars and workshops.

Both synchronous (delivered in real time) and asynchronous (replayed at a later date) programs are offered. Teachers and students in remote and regional areas may view these seminars, workshops, and webinars at the VDEI, ensuring that students who are deaf or hard of hearing receive the best educational opportunities, regardless of location.

VDEI’s use of information technology also supports the delivery professional learning seminars and workshops by national and international speakers.
