The Australian Sign Language (Auslan) courses have been included in Victoria's Free TAFE program, allowing hundreds of individuals to learn Auslan without tuition fees.
The Diploma of Auslan, Diploma of Interpreting (Auslan), and Advanced Diploma of Interpreting (Auslan) have been added to the Free TAFE course list.
Employment opportunities requiring Auslan skills are growing, and interpreters are needed in various industries, including the education and disability sectors and entertainment.
The Victorian government is investing in Free TAFE, making it more accessible and removing barriers to career changes, benefiting over 153,000 students and saving nearly $394 million since the program's inception in 2019.
