VDEI Caption Centre celebrates 15 years

Established in 2011, the Caption Centre supports deaf and hard of hearing students from Foundation to Year 12, captioning a wide range of educational resources, including ClickView content, YouTube clips, Victorian Virtual Learning Network lessons, films, TV broadcasts, educational videos, and teacher- and student-created media.

Since 2011, the Caption Centre has produced more than 1000 resources for the classroom, and over 150 resources for VDEI and the Inclusive Education Professional Practice branch.

The Caption Centre also captions all digital resources in VDEI's Professional Learning catalogue, including on-demand presentations, eLearning modules and short courses.

The VDEI Caption Centre Library provides a growing collection of captioned resources across Victorian Curriculum areas, including English, Arts, Health and Physical Education, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, Science, and Technologies.

Captioners Kathryn Harrison and Sheryl Measor joined the Caption Centre in 2011 and have been instrumental in captioning educational resources and ensuring captions are accurate, clear and appropriately timed to support students’ access to learning. Kathryn left the Centre in 2020, while Sheryl continues her work with the Centre today.
