This facilitator-led blended learning course has been co-designed by the Department of Education and The University of Melbourne to develop understanding and capabilities in:
- ways to support student behaviour from a behavioural science lens
- evidence-based approaches to supporting students at the whole-school, classroom, and individual levels
- implementing data-informed supports and interventions.
Course learning objectives
- Learn about the science of behaviour
- Understand factors that motivate student behaviour
- Analyse student behavioural data
- Learn a range of strategies to support student behaviour
- Consider how to develop a safe & supportive school culture
- Collaborate with others to share ideas
- Know where to access and use a suite of resources & supports
Course requirements
- Complete the pre - and post - course evaluations
- Engage with the online course content (approximately 1 - 2 hours per week)
- Collaborate with others and reflect on your learning
- Apply learning via a practical learning activity
- Consolidate knowledge with two x 1 .5 hour face -to - face/virtual sessions

- Education Support Staff are requested to participate alongside a teacher from their school because parts of the course focus on class-wide, small group and individualised program planning. It’s best practice when teachers and ES collaborate on these parts.
Time commitment
- 8 weeks (course duration)
- 20 hours of professional learning (contributes towards VIT registration requirements)
